Fairhope Special Meeting

Jack Burrell is calling a special meeting on Friday the 29th at 8:00 am. This is Jack’s way of covering his ass with his hand picked attorney. For years the city has talked about a full time city attorney. Not Jack. He does not care about what it cost the city as long as he is in control. Jack may get more than he wished for Friday, and he deserves it.

FAUXHOPE - PARTY BEFORE COUNTRY OR CITY

“While the State of Alabama's total electorate ultimately denied Roy Moore from taking the oath of office as a United States Senator, the City of Fairhope and Baldwin County as a whole, voted for an alleged pedophile and a man twice removed for being unfit to hold office. It should be noted that the City of Daphne voted for the winner, Doug Jones, providing hope for the future. Alabama needs to move away from straight ticket voting. One third of the ballots cast in the election were straight ticket checkoffs. Straight ticket voting is what gave Alabama Roy Moore. Interestingly, with consideration to the heavy black turnout statewide and that Jones received an unprecedented 97 percent of the black vote, one could argue it was straight ticket voting that elected Jones. Moving forward, Jones must appeal to Alabama's total electorate–not just the left; or he won't be re-elected. His term is only for two years, so he has but a little time to acquaint himself with the voters who put him in office. The republicans are going to come at him hard so it will be interesting to see how Jones defines himself once he takes the oath.”

DO YOUR JOB, PASS THE BUDGET

Sorry I did not get Freaky Friday published last week, It was a real freaky for me. I had a total reverse shoulder operation in Birmingham veteran hospital, my 13th shoulder operation since Vietnam, on Friday. The first three days of recovery are no fun and the drug fog does not allow you to think. I hope to recover fast enough that I may be able to give a special Christmas present to a well deserving recipient.

ALABAMA THE BEAUTIFUL

Yesterday Alabama stood on the side of Country before party. Some think the party and straight ticket voting is the only answer, regardless of allegations. Truth is this is the core problem and bad politicians get elected this way. The party will cover up crimes hinder investigations and deny deny deny before admitting the party members guilt. Alabama needs a two party system currently the single party leadership has been a total failure, for years. Both parties need to be held accountable and candidates elected on credentials. A candidate should be carefully vetted, his or her views will affect us all. If it means crossing party lines so be it, your moral compass should come first.

FROM THE TROPICS

Well folks I decided that I needed a little rest and relaxation because I am facing my 14th and 15 shoulder operation since my injuries in Vietnam. The first one comes up Dec 15th so if I am a little late on publication, you will know why. I have traveled all of Central America and am a citizen of Belize, however I choose Mahahaul Mexico to chill out before my operation, one of my favorite beaches.
Group of protesters holding signs, demonstrating against Roy Moore’s candidacy in Baldwin County, Alabama

PROTESTER PRIDE

The Moore and Bannon show did not count on any protesters, no they thought everyone would just roll over as usual. Wrong, and thank God for it. Fairhope should be proud that many women in Baldwin County did not allow themselves to be silenced and exercised their constitutional right to peacefully protest the candidacy of Roy Moore. Please note I said Roy Moore because he is not a judge, he lost that job twice, by violating his oath of office.
