Map outline of Florida highlighting coastal areas impacted by population growth and infrastructure challenges

PARADISE LOST

Submitted by: Chris Warner Dear Editor: The citizens of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Destin, Florida were bushwhacked. They never saw it coming. Or did they? Ongoing costs of residential growth outpacing adequate infrastructure development are real to these communities, as their citizens’ quality of life has been diminished as more humans move to their already crowded coastal cities. As a result, residents pine for earlier days when traffic and congestion weren’t a part of their daily lexicon. It is a recurring planning nightmare: Resort town becomes a hot destination to live and retire, fueling an unprecedented real estate boom. The folks pour in, the banks, builders and real estate agents literally make bank, and ultimately, the golden goose is killed—as every place has a finite capacity to move people on roads. In Alabama’s most affluent coastal communities—the Daphne/Fairhope and Gulf Shores/Orange Beach areas, this alarming trend is evident—or is it?

CATALYST SHERIFF

When Police Chiefs or Sheriff’s get wrapped up playing politics, sometimes it bites them in the ass. Just ask the former Police Chief of Fairhope, Bill Press. Maybe you could ask the current Fairhope Police Chief who, today, just announced his retirement after 36 years, Chief Joseph Pettis. Two weeks ago Fairhope got a visit from the FBI, makes you wonder about the Police Chief retiring from the Catalyst stronghold! Catalyst is running scared and pulling every trick they can to gain votes for the June 5th primary.

CATALYST JUDGES

Alabama has a proud legal system ripe with attorneys who plan a career as a judge. In Baldwin and Mobile Counties, there is a specified gateway to the sought-after bench. It is called an appointment. When a judgeship is vacated, typically before the term ends, challengers also submit themselves to the closed committees and the approval of presiding judges and the glorious appointment is made. There is then a silent rule among the attorneys and judges. Sitting Judges, even the appointed ones, shall NOT be challenged in elections.

MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. They died so you could live with rights afforded to you by the Constitution of the United States. While I was in Vietnam in the Marines my cousin was in the Army, 101st Airborne, located 50 miles south of my base. He was killed April 6th 1968, 50 years ago, his loss has had an impact on my extended family ever since. He has never faded from our memory.

ELLIOTT>TUCKER>CATALYST - SELLING YOUR SOUL

By now you have seen the slick ads of Elliott and Tucker. However, when you read them you do not recognize any similarity between the written fluff and the candidates. These guys are dumping tens of thousands of dollars, donated by developers and Catalyst, to be elected at all costs. They will do anything, I repeat anything, to get elected. The Senate seat Elliott seeks was held by Boom Boom Pittman, electing Elliott would be as bad as having Boom Boom back.
Blurred police car lights suggest investigation into allegations surrounding Jack Burrell and legal incidents in Fairhope

POLICE REPORT

A DOCUMENT FOR CATALYST A police report is a public document, it is not a Ripp Report, it is a police report. The Ripp Report has received several tips involving Mr Jack Burrell and the law. What was alleged was that Mr. Burrell had gotten out of several incidents with the law, by having good connections. They were allegations and I had no evidence to prove other wise. In January of this year it was suggested that I request police report for Jack Burrell in Fairhope. I did so through an attorney in Birmingham.

STATE SENATE SEAT - DISTRICT 32 - BOMBS AWAY

Heads up, sounds like two different authorities are checking out Fairhope. The Ripp Report is waiting on tips to the Rippster in the hopes of finding out who’s in hot water. Something tells me that the next couple of weeks leading up to the primary election June 5, is going to be very interesting. Stay Tuned. The State Senate Seat for District 32 is one of the more important races of this mid-term. This position was held by boom boom Pittman who was more concerned about his own pocket and covering for the Sheriff. The first thing a new Senator should do is roll back the qualifications for Sheriff that Pittman put in place for Baldwin County. Only Baldwin County has the “structured” qualifications for sheriff in the whole state.
