“The boiling frog is a fable describing a frog being slowly boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.” This fable reminds me of Parker Road and Hwy.98 and how the traffic seems to get more congested at that intersection every day. To enter the Publix off Parker Road is only 8 car lengths, to exit is also 8 vehicles. As soon as those 8 vehicles stack up for the light on 98, they block the gas station entrance, and usually only those cars make the light.
Here we go again, a lot of hot air and no results. Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, BCEDA, sounds important doesn’t it? The CEO Lee Lawson sure can blow smoke when it comes to the mega site or when he is recruited by politicians that want a “third party” to back up one of their schemes. The Ripp Report was present when Mr. Lawson was asked by the Fairhope City Council to render support for the Fairhope Airport and K-1 School. The interesting thing is the general public get 3 minutes to speak, Mr Lawson was allowed all the time he needed, or till he ran out of breath. On both occasions their was more BS than fact. It was a political show to bolster failing elected officials.
Fairhope Airport Authority recently held a special meeting, Jan 8th to discuss a “notice of availability”. The notice covers many issues and the final draft, particularly the issue of leases, bidding procedures and fuel farms, are all issues being revisited from the “failed” process in late 2016. This was the subject of a series of Ripp Report articles covering the infamous lease in question at the time. The first article was posted Nov. 2016.
“According to court records filed Friday, State Rep. Randy Davis of Daphne is attempting to avoid prosecution from federal conspiracy and bribery charges through pretrial diversion regarding an indictment unsealed in Montgomery last year.” Could not load preview for: Randy Davis was indicted last year: Outgoing State Rep. Randy Davis indicted in bribery case The documents indicate the indictment stems from the alleged bribery scheme that led to indictments of State Rep. Jack Williams, R-Vestavia Hills, lobbyist Marty Connors, former chairman of the state Republican Party and Trina Health owner G. Ford Gilbert of California.
After many years, countless meetings, most very boring, perseverance, and well written proposals, Fairhope will finally see serious BP money. All Fairhope BP 'RESTORE' Projects Approved All Fairhope BP 'RESTORE' Projects Approved News and information for Fairhope and Baldwin County, Alabama. Please Read: thefairhopetimes.blogspot.com/2018/03/all-fairhope-bp-restore-projects.html “After taking office, Mayor Wilson and Economic Director Sherry Botop submitted new proposals (different from those mayor Kant had submitted years earlier); the new proposals are what was just approved.”
The Ripp Report is a non-profit organization, politically non-partisan. The focus of The Ripp Report is political corruption and exposing the elected officials involved. In the past we specialized on filing legitimate complaints with the Alabama Ethics Commission and the Alabama Attorney General. This method garnered a lot of attention among the public, however complaints fell on deaf ears. In fact many believe the sole purpose of the Ethics Commission is to provide “cover” for the offenders. Every major journalist in the state has condemned the Ethics Commission as worthless, even corrupt.
RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS Do something nice for someone you know or don't know. Do something nice for someone in your family. Do something in your community to help a school. Do something nice for someone who helps others — a teacher, law enforcement, fireman, or military personnel. Encourage people who create music, art or short stories and make the world a better place. Fairhope in 2018 is IN THE DARK, refusing to look forward and recognize the lighting speed of change. The last city council meeting in Fairhope for 2018 was more of the same: CHASING YOUR TAIL Fairhope is being held back by a City Council that is chasing its tail. The Catalyst, at large council, was successful in derailing any change of government. IGNORANCE IS BLISS - Ripp Report I knew I could count on the Lagniappe to produce a comprehensive article about the recent referendum election in Fairhope. Well done. Fairhope voters …
I apologize that The Ripp Report missed the last two Wonderful Wednesday’s, we should be back on schedule by the first of the new year. Baldwin County has 14 municipalities, 14 Mayors, a County Commission and 15 different Planning and Zoning departments, throughout Baldwin County, all work independent of each other. Municipalities Municipalities Please Read: baldwincountyal.gov/all-mobile/government/municipalities For instance Daphne allows apartments to be built on Highway 98, within a mile Fairhope approves apartments also on 98. In between the approximately 500 apartments are three traffic lights and a school zone. Daphne and Fairhope never communicated with one another as to the traffic or other issues that were impacted by their independent decisions.
